$40M raised in healthtech

I have been building software companies for twenty years. I sold my first to Autodesk in 2014 and my second to Johnson & Johnson in 2017. Most recently I built a pediatric telehealth platform that delivered care to over 50,000 children during COVID, raised $40M in venture capital, and connected hundreds of thousands of worried parents to qualified clinical support when they needed it most.

I know what it takes to build healthcare software at scale. I also know what it looks like when the infrastructure underneath it hasn't kept up.

For the past decade I have had my own labs done four times a year. Nearly fifty blood draws, working with performance wellness GPs and specialists to stay on top of my health. What I watched across all of those years was a process that never got better: results arriving as PDFs, referrals going out by fax and form, clinicians with no shared view of my history forwarding files back and forth by email.

As someone who has spent his career building products that work, I knew exactly what was wrong. And as a founder who has built clinical software at scale, I knew exactly who was absorbing the cost on the business side.

Hematic is the infrastructure I would have wanted to exist. A single API to handle pathology ordering, collection tracking, and result delivery, so the platforms delivering care can focus on their patients instead of the plumbing.

What Hematic is

Hematic is a B2B pathology infrastructure platform. We give Australian telehealth companies a single API to order pathology, track patient collection, and receive results, with panels pre-negotiated across Australia's major NATA-accredited lab networks.

We handle the lab relationships, the referral generation, the compliance, and the result delivery. Our partners handle the clinical work and the patient relationship.

What Hematic is not

Hematic is not a medical provider and does not provide direct patient care. We do not employ clinicians or make clinical decisions. All pathology referrals are issued under the supervision of an AHPRA-registered medical director, but the treating relationship belongs to our partner platforms and their practitioners.
